Kees has been signed by the No 1 Oceania Continental UCI Cycling team – Team BridgeLane, setting the scene for a great 2020 and beyond. Kees has ambitions to develop his cycling over the next few years to make it into a World Tour Team and Team BridgeLane has a proven track record in doing just that. With a great calendar of racing, a superb development platform and a great management and support structure everything is now in place for Kees to chase his cycling dreams.
We caught up with Kees for his reaction to the announcement.
ESP: How important is signing with Team BridgeLane to you?
Signing is extremely important because not only is Team BridgeLane a UCI registered team but one of the very best outside of Europe
Kees
ESP: What was the appeal of Team BridgeLane?
BridgeLane has the appeal of being close to home but still with an awesome race program and a proven pathway to the World Tour
Kees
ESP: What would you like to accomplish this year with Team BridgeLane?
I’m not sure what exactly I would like to accomplish in my first year because I know it will be a big learning curve but being able to help the team in anyway I can while adding a few results to the CV would be nice.
Kees
ESP: Any specific race goals yet?
My race program isn’t completely set yet but I know I am doing NZ Cycle Classic so being able to help the team to a stage win or a GC result would be great!
Kees
ESP: Your future looks extremely bright! Where do you see yourself in 2 years time?
Hopefully I’ll be able to be onto a World Tour Team in 2 years time!
Kees
We are extremely excited for what the year has in store for Kees and look forward to working with him to help him and his team achieve their goals this year. Don’t be surprised if we see Kees with his distinctive finishing salute somewhere on the World stage in the next 12 months and Team BridgeLane continuing to build champions!
